Processing Speed
Fast accurate decisions under time pressure - without sacrificing accuracy.
What it is
How quickly you can take in information, evaluate it, and respond. Processing speed declines with age more reliably than other cognitive measures and is one of the most-studied indicators of cognitive aging.
What the research supports
Processing-speed training (Useful Field of View etc.) shows reliable improvements on trained tasks. The ACTIVE trial (Ball et al. 2002, Rebok et al. 2014) found 10-year benefits on speed-of-processing measures. Transfer to broader cognition or daily-life function is more modest than the headlines suggested.

How BrainGym trains it
Per-question timers in Heavy Lifting train fast-and-accurate decisions. The processing-speed skill is the secondary signal in many puzzle categories rather than a separate module - we believe slow careful thinking is the more valuable habit and do not want to distort the product toward speed for its own sake.
